WHAT IS ZOONO?

Zoono Origins

A number of years ago, the Zoono Group, a New Zealand company, secured the exclusive world distribution rights for the two unique products originally produced by a U.S. based manufacturer. The Zoono Group ultimately reached an agreement with that company for the acquisition of the manufacturing facility, its Intellectual Property and all associated patents. Zoono is also now manufactured in New Zealand.The original technology was developed for the US Navy to control the spread of microbial infections within the confines of nuclear submarines. Until the 1990’s, this cutting-edge technology was literally a military secret.

 

ZOONO: A UNIQUE ANTIMICROBIAL MOLECULE

It forms a water stable solution at low concentrations. There are no additives in Zoono added to promote stability. This solution has the antimicrobial properties of typical aqueous solutions of quaternary ammonium compounds. On application to surfaces, the material reacts to produce a bonded antimicrobial coating. On evaporation of the water solvent, a durable bonded coating is produced which has improved and sustained antimicrobial properties. Zoono, when applied to a surface, transforms from a water soluble monomeric species to an insoluble, macromolecular antimicrobial film. This film is stable and durable. Zoono has been demonstrated effective against a wide range of pathogens.

 

THE LONG-LASTING EFFECT

  • Zoono eliminates all forms of viruses, bacteria, pathogens, mold and algae without the use of alcohol or poisoning chemicals (typically found in conventional sanitizers)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

    • Unlike normal sanitizers that only work when wet, Zoono works when dry. When applied to a surface it leaves behind a monomolecular layer that is permanently bound to the surface. The molecule is an antimicrobial, silicon based polymer that bonds to the surface as soon as the water evaporates.

      • The molecule resembles an antimicrobial spike that pierces the microorganism, disrupting the complex molecular structure of cell walls and membranes of bacteria, fungi, yeasts and the structure of a virus. This causes the organism to break up with lethal effect.

      • The layer of molecular antimicrobial spikes carries on working for up to 30 days on surfaces. Routine cleaning should continue and does not disrupt the Zoono molecule or its antimicrobial activity.

      • The Zoono layer is made up of positively charged pins, which attract and pierce negatively charged pathogens. The pins kill germs by rupturing their cell walls.

      • Zoono can be used on any surface in any environment. Our hand and skin formulations use the same principle to provide protection for up to 24 hours.

      ZOONO INGREDIENTS

      Zoono products use purified, deionized water & an antimicrobial compound.

      We use a Quaternary Ammonium Compound – these are commonly used antibacterial agents found in products such as toothpaste, contact lens products, cosmetics, soaps.

      While our quaternary ammonium compound originates from natural sand, the process is synthetic.

      Our trade secret lies in the technology behind the quaternary ammonium compound which enables Zoono to stay active and continue killing pathogens for long periods of times.
